Infrared Saunas
The deep, penetrating heat from infrared saunas can aid in muscle relaxation and recovery, potentially reducing muscle soreness and tension after intense physical activity. Additionally, the heat generated by infrared saunas may help improve circulation, promoting the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to fatigued muscles, which can contribute to faster recovery.
For fitness enthusiasts and those prioritizing post-exercise recovery, the use of infrared saunas can be a valuable complement to their wellness routine, offering a sanctuary for relaxation and aiding in the overall recovery process.
How Do Infrared Saunas Work?
Unlike a traditional sauna, which heats the air around you to create steam-room-style heat, an infrared sauna uses infrared panels to warm your body directly. This means an infrared sauna typically runs at a gentler 40-60°C, compared to 70-100°C+ in a traditional sauna, while still producing a deep, penetrating sweat — because the heat is being absorbed by your skin rather than the surrounding air.
Infrared Sauna vs Traditional Sauna
The lower operating temperature makes infrared saunas more accessible for people who find traditional saunas too intense, and sessions are often used for longer (20-45 minutes) as a result. Many of our infrared saunas, including the full Insignia and Miracle Sauna ranges, are built with Zero/Ultra-Low EMF heating panels — a detail worth checking for if EMF exposure is a concern for you, since not every infrared sauna on the market specifies this.
What to Consider Before Buying
A few practical points worth thinking through before choosing a sauna:
- Session length and frequency — most people start with 15-20 minute sessions, 2-4 times a week, and build up from there.
- Who should be cautious — anyone who is pregnant, has a cardiovascular condition, or is on medication that affects blood pressure or heart rate should check with a doctor before regular sauna use.
- Space and power — our 1-person saunas are designed for tight spaces and standard 13A plug sockets, while larger 3-4 person saunas need more room and, in some cases, a dedicated circuit.
Choosing the Right Size
Our infrared sauna range spans 1-person saunas for a compact daily routine through to 4-person corner and full-size models for sharing with family or using with a training group. If you're not sure which size suits your space, our 1-2 person saunas are the most popular starting point for home use, while the 3-4 person models suit households or anyone wanting to sauna with a partner.
